Fuel filter light
Fuel filter light
recently been having a issue with my fuel system. Fuel filter will indicate while putting your foot into it and flicker off but sometimes fuel filter light will stay on and later down the freeway 70mph truck will be fun to loose power like it’s running out of fuel proceed to the shoulder and truck will not start just sputter. Drained bowl and Pulled filter filter is clean placed it back in still same thing. 10-15 minutes of tinkering on the side of the freeway I can get it going runs rough at first then smoothed out and runs like there’s no issues need help what my issues done lots of reading and I see a lot of people have had the same issue but no direst answer to what is going on. Thanks
I'm not saying this is what your problem is. But awhile back on mine I took the screen off in the tank and made a pipe to replace it and started having problems with fuel filter light and running out of fuel also. Come to find out it had trash in tank that was getting into the line and stopping it up like a bad filter. I blew it out and it worked for awhile but did it again. So I replaced the screen and haven't had anymore problems..
May start with blowing low air pressure back through lines and see.
Does it do it on both tanks?

look into fuel lines. it could be a leak, anywhere from the engine valley all the way back to the tank. does it act different if you swithch tanks, assuming both tanks are functional?
its not a bad idea to rebuild the fuel bowl every ten years anyways. the braided lines just above the front drivers tire were leaking on mine when i bought it.

The fuel filter light is activated by a vacuum sensor located on the side of the fuel bowl. Typically, when the light goes on it is due to a high vacuum / suction caused by a restriction somewhere in the fuel supply system.
Some typical problems causing the light to go on: the in-tank "shower-head" strainers are clogged up from dirt or algae; or those in-tank strainers, which are made of plastic, are disintegrating and sending pieces downstream which are clogging up the fuel line and/or the fuel tank selector valve; or the fuel tank selector valve and/or fuel lines are otherwise clogged up from algae, etc.
