Any chance someone may have a picture of an extension panel (the one in front of the fender) from an 8' 1966 F100 Flareside?? I'm looking for one that is off of the bed. In particular, the top edge that bends on a 90 degree angle under the bedside. Area in red n pic below. Thanks

Perhaps I am not reading the drawing correctly but I do not see a number associated with the extension. It's the panel circled in red below. I'm trying to find out if the top edge of that panel runs under the bedside flange (the flange that sits on outer boards of the floor) is the same width as that flange or what it should look like. Mine has rotted beyond recognition - Thanks
On my 81 flare side like yours that panel was also rusted and again like yours is all part of the bed side panel.
I just went back thru my pictures and it is hard to tell from them. In 1 I want to say the lip was maybe 1/8" to 1/4" and another picture it was almost as wide as the bed bolting lip.
Why it was hard to tell is the bolting lip was also rusted away in most of the other areas that panel is in.
I was not worried if it looked factory stock or not. Also you don't see a lot of that area of the panel because of fender & short bed on my truck.
I cut the rusted part of the panel out and the filler piece just ran up to the bed bolt lip and welded it smooth on the out side.
Here you can see the strip I cut out of the panel and the new bolt lip I had to make and the card board pattern.
Strip & lip welded in place.
I don't have any pictures of the other side but again on my truck you would only see maybe 2" out side the fender area the rest is on the inside of the fender area.
I also did it this way as it now does not have an area, 2 lips, where water & dirt can collect and rust out again.
I would think that if not doing a factory stock restore then fix it the way it makes it easy for you and that both sides match.
If the sides match who would know that is not how it left the factory?
Hope that helps

Thanks Dave - I'm working on mine now. Of course when I built my brake a bunch of years ago, I made it 25" wide and the panel is 30 1/2". I'll have to figure out something to get a sharp 90 bend on top and bottom of the panel. I'm going to leave the top as wide as the bedside flange that bolts through the wood. (the flange will sit on top of the panel top) Thanks for the pics and the measurement of what yours was. It helps!
