'97 vs. '98

i have a 1998 Ranger supercab 2wd and i want to put a lift on it. I can get a good deal on a lift kit for a 1997 ranger and i was wanting to know what the difference 1 year makes. thanks

Hello, welcome to FTE!

The '98 Ranger was changed around a bit from the '97, most particularly the front suspension and 4x4 system.

sorry 97 front suspension lift parts won't work on a 98+ ranger.
The rear components will.

thanks

I have lowered a ranger but never lifted one. What parts in the front suspension is changed in the lift? New to this stuff.

On the 98, 99, and the majority of 2000 2wd's the spindle, coil spring, and upper a-arm can be replaced to increase height.

Spindle alone gets you 3 inchs. Coil spring and a-arm alone gets you 2.5 inchs. When you combine the 2 you get 5.5 inchs. Some of the crappy lifts like from Chassis Tech claim more inchs but stick with the quality lifts.
