2002 F250 Super Duty shakes in four wheel drive
Had what I thought was a bad front axle hub. It felt like it was binding up, right front. ( I have experienced a previous hub seize up) Replaced both hub/ bearing units including seals. Replaced both outer axle shafts, and u-joints. Also replaced both rotors and pads.
Thought I had it fixed. Put truck back together. Took for a test drive. Seems good in 2 wheel but after locking in hubs and placing in 4 high. The front hops when ever I turn left or right. It hops much more then it did normally when when making slow stop to stop turns.
Shut down 4 wheel. Still seeem to have some hop when turning.. Any Ideas???

Pavement was wet/ rain when I test drove. I have experienced the wheel hop that you get on dry pavement turns when in 4 wheel. Seems much worse than that. Going for surgery tomorrow. Will check the front drive shaft u-joints when I get around again. Had truck since new and this is the first time its done this.

My issue with it is you said it only hops on turns. That says binding to me, not front driveshaft u-joints which would give you vibration at all times. I've only ever run my 4x4 on snow or dirt/mud so I still don't trust it not to hop on simply wet ground, but you at least know what I'm talking about. I once got into a long diagnostic thread similar to this but on a different forum and after about 4 pages someone gives my exact suggestion "this isn't dry pavement is it?". I almost called the guy an idiot, like why would we diagnose this far into it and why would someone not know something so simple. OP goes, "Oh didn't know that was bad."

Wet pavement will still cause it to bind in 4x4. You need to check in loose dirt /gravel, and at full turn you will still feel it slightly. I can still feel mine when I'm plowing on slick surfaces and turned to full lock. I have been looking at a c/v axle conversion to see if it would help this issue, but at the cost of 2500 bux, I am living with it just fine. Now the best way to check your front axle joints is to jack up the front end, lock your hubs, in 2wd, turn to right or left and spin the tires. If you have a binding joint you will find it.
