A/C identity



According to the PO this was installed at the dealership. Trying to find some info on the system. Possible heater core problem. Good heat but not great heat. Replaced thermostat but pretty much that’s it. All hoses seem to be newer if not brand new and noticed no leaks anywhere. Any advice would be appreciated.

Both hoses should be pretty much the same temp. coming out of the cab. If the bottom hose is somewhat cooler than the top hose then the heater core is probably seen better days.

Thanks for the reply. Is the core harder to get to than the ones with the blower motor ? New to all of this.

^ This is dealer installed "Economy" A/C that is not combined with the heater. It uses the heater only heater core.

There are two other types of A/C:

1) Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are in the same panel as the heater controls. Huge evaporator case at right rear corner of engine compartment.

2) Deluxe dealer installed A/C is combined with the heater. The 2 A/C switches are located in the HUGE dash bezel that sweeps across the entire right side of the dash, covering up the glove box.

There is a separate hang-on glove box bolted to the bottom of the dash.
