Hi all i have a 1997 f350 powerstroke auto 4x4 with around 240k on it. When i reach around 60-65 on the highway i get a bad grinding noise under my drivers side. Kinda like theres a branch stuck underneath it. Along with this that side is leaking what i think is oil. Any tips on where to start? it doesnt do it at lower speeds around town like 20-30 and nothing changed when i put my truck in 4 wheel. i just had the tie rods done and mechanic said everything else looked good. Thanks for any help.
The oil leak is probably the oil cooler O-rings under the end caps. On the grinding, it is hard to say over the net. LOL Right off the top of my head, exhaust down pipe rubbing, although it would be on the passenger side. Bad U joint in the drive line?
Check and make sure there is not a bolt or rock stuck between the oil pand and the cross over frame member under the pan..... took me months to find that noise and almost rubbed a hole in my oil pan.
