Well, you need to start searching wheel adapters. You need to find ones to fit your 5 x 5.5 and then convert to the metric 5 x 114.3. You may have to have them custom made.

I found this place:
https://www.uswheeladapters.com/shop...heel-adapters/

You will need to figure out how thick you need to get the backspacing correct. IE: the tire/rim out to the edge of the wheel well. You need to either make up a piece of cardboard with the rim layout(backspacing) so you can see what it needs to be. You can buy plastic mock ups also.
Something like this:
https://www.jegs.com/i/Percy's/760/01201/10002/-1?CAWELAID=1710534765&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=446935921 61&CATCI=aud-295441111667la-224363292311&CATARGETID=230006180039218438&cadevic e=c&jegspromo=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImKKs0MOl4AIVlbfsC h1Y_AC5EAQYAyABEgI0DPD_BwE

You need to do your homework or you will be buying the spacers twice.

If that doesn't work, you could always swap in a Crown Vic front, and an 8.8 out of an explorer. It'll cast a little more, (READ: $1000's of dollars) and take a little more time, (READ: fabrication needed), but after that, the wheels will bolt right up. Always an option... An overly complicated, and expensive option, but an option all the same. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just in case you're not aware, 5x114.3 = 5x4-1/2" B.C.

Well, at ~$550.00 per wheel, they are not inexpensive

But assuming the offset will ACTUALLY work on your truck, the thickness of the wheel adapters is going to impact the offset of the wheels.

I'm assuming you already have disc brakes on the front? Some early eighties F-100's had 5x4-1/2" B.C., so swapping front rotors would take care of the front. A set of aftermarket axles would change the bolt circle on the diff, negating the need for wheel adapters, which many people don't recommend to begin with.

Surely, when you get into the price range per wheel that your looking at, there are enough available options of "similar" looking wheels with the correct bolt pattern ??

Some 1980/83 F100's have 5 lug wheels on a 4.50" bolt circle, some have 5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle.

The F100 4.50" wheels will not clear the calipers of LTD/Crown Vic/Grand Marquis with the same 4.50" bolt circle pattern.

All 1997 and later F150's have metric wheels.

Bill: How did you get sidetracked into mentioning LTD/Crown Vic/Grand Marquis stuff, as at no point has the OP mentioned his truck having CV front suspension, because if it did, the 5x4-1/2" BC Saleen wheels he wants would bolt straight on...........

The OP never mentioned it, but someone else did in post #3, adding that an Explorer 8.8 rear axle could be swapped in.

I responded to post #4 where you mentioned that some of the early 1980's F100's had 4.50" bolt circle wheels.

The problem is, these F100 4.50" wheels will not clear the calipers of the Crown Vic and etc Panther platforms. Then a few minutes ago, I remembered that neither will 4.50" Ranger wheels.

Rangers, Bronco II's and Explorers are "sisters under the skin" so if you swap in a Crown Vic front and an Explorer rear, what wheels will fit?

The OP started off right out of the gate with a link to some 17" Saleen Wheels, which should present no issues with caliper clearance......
And yes, the CV brakes require a minimum of 16" wheel because of the diameter of the rotor/caliper combo........but the OP's intent (AFAIK) was never to run oem wheels, even if he did switch to 5x4-1/2" BC...........

Anyways, this is becoming a lot like a dog chasing his tail kind of a deal, so I'm giving up now........

Wow $2200.00 on wheels alone! I would look far and wide to find wheels that would bolt up directly.

HA! I made the same mistake, but I just went back & looked at the link, and spotted this:

"WHAT'S IN THE BOX

  • (2) 17x9 Saleen SC Wheels
  • (2) 17x10 Saleen SC Wheels"
That's a good deal!!.....except for they don't come in the B.C. you actually need

Well, Strange, Currie, Moser, etc will be happy to sell you some axles, and drilling your drums to match shouldn't be that bad......
