I'm hoping someone here can help me - I have recently acquired a 1949 f2 pickup. It has an extended cab, did Ford manufacture some with this option or is it modified? Can't find any info to confirm or deny! I dont see any evidence in the body to prove it was chopped/repaired. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Add my welcome. I’ll agree with the others. Your truck looks to have had its cab extended and otherwise modified in a variety of ways, probably later in its life. It’s nicely done. But there have been a few trucks found that were custom bodied when new for railroad crews and other special purposes. This below truck is an example I tracked down and have had my hands on. These coach builder modifications are shown as available in the annual Hildy’s Blue Books Of Special Equipment For Ford Trucks. Two companies listed were the Armbruster Company and Stoughton Cab and Body Company. Stu
Whoever modified that truck of yours DFontana, did a nice job with an eye for metal design and style. I wonder if it still has the 122" F2 wheelbase?
It certainly is a nicely unique truck. You probably have disk brakes? Welcome to FTE, and thanks for sharing pictures!

It appears to me it was, and still is a long bed truck that's had the front of the bed cut off 18" or so to a short bed length, and the cab extended a similar amount. You can see the space between the back edge of the fender and the end of the bed is correct for the long bed, and it still has the F2 rear fenders and running boards. It's a good way to make an extended cab without having to make frame mods.I agree it looks like good work, at least from this far away.
