Thanks in advance, as I am new to the forum and my 97 F-350. Purchased the truck a few months ago and I'm getting ready to address the issues and maintenance it needs. The electrical issues I am experiencing are:
Blower motor works intermittently, start it and drive, the motor works. Turn it off and start it and it doesn't work. Drive it, then turn it off and when I start up again, the blower motor is working again. All the fan speeds work when the motor is blowing.
Both the turn signals blink fast as if one of the bulbs is blown, yet all the signals blink.
The dinging alarm letting you know your keys are in the ignition or the lights are on most always stays on when I open the door, even when the lights are off and the keys are out.
I am curious if these problems are related to something bigger, or if I need to track these problems individually.
My money is on a blower issue. They are about $45 new at The Zone. If yours is from the '90s, be smart to replace anyway.
The dinging...seatbelt or the ign tumbler contact is dead. Can just unplug it for now under dash, by where the electric brake harness plugs into it. I desoldered the pin within the chime module to retain headlight on chime. I can tell you what to remove if you care.
not alway true. Thiese motors are know for sticking when they start to go out.
ive never seen a motor work intermittently that was going bad, at least not in my electrical career. Almost always a switch or connection issue. But you learn something new everyday.

Ignition tumbler makes sense. probably get with you when I get under the dash to take care of some other maintenance

It is Pin 4, black/pink, on the plug to the chime module. I removed the module, desoldered the pin inside the box. Reinstalled. Easy.
While you are swapping blow motor, you probably should just buy new cages. I cannot seem to get old ones off without them exploding in my hands. Also, look for any crap in the evap case...you will be surprised how much **** is inside there. I posted in my build thread what I used to clean my evap, highly recommended it.
Clean the EVAP coil as well, you will have to remove the side cover (the one by the passenger side valve cover) use a water hose sprayer by spraying it from engine side to fender side.
