Battery powered LED Cab/Clearance lights for superduties?
After reading the recent thread on leaks around the cab lights, I remember a member on this site had posted his company was about to put on the market some time late fall some battery LED lights with a remote. These do not require holes in the roof. This intrigued me because while I would have liked the clearance lights, I had read about leak issues, so I chose not to order that option when I built my F350. Does anyone remember that member or the name of his company( or maybe he reads this and joins in this thread).
You're thinking about https://caboveramerica.com/
I received notice 2 or 3 weeks ago that they're finally selling product. But I'm now a bit hesitant to buy. First, $500 + S&H is a big pill to swallow for lights with only a 1-year warranty. Second, there is no information on their "About" page identifying owners and/or the company's physical location (don't know where they're located). Three, it's doubtful these cab lights are DOT-approved. And four, I park in a garage at work so getting a full charge on these solar-powered lights would be a stretch.
I also received the notice they were in production but have the same concerns, that's a lot of money for a battery powered light, and they want 25.00 to ship, common if i spend 500 bucks almost anywhere online these days i get free shipping. the replacement cost of the lights was also pricy, I don't want them that bad!
I'm certain that as soon as my truck goes in for its annual state safety inspection, and the cab lights do not illuminate with the other lights from the dashboard switch, the state inspector is going to take a closer look look at them. And if they're not DOT-approved, my truck will fail the inspection and I'll have to remove them.
Saw that video. Agreed ... stay away from my truck. I got a reply on their location: "Our company address is 3815 Franklin Boulevard Eugene Oregon 97403 myself Scott Monroe and my partner Vince Badkin are the owners of the company." And they're listed on Amazon (I really dislike Amazon):
I have approached the owner on the idea of a group buy at a introductory price, If i hear back from him with something reasonable i will follow up here with details.
I will reach out to a Moderator of this forum before I post any offers...

Good luck with that. $125 for 5 replacement LED/battery modules + $25 for 5 lenses = $150. So for the $500 sale price, the bases, double-back tape, hardware & 2 remotes fetch an additional $350? Yeah, if the sale price was under $300, I'd buy a set. Googled their business address ... "Goofy's Mufflers" ... really?
They do solve a lot of issues with wanting cab lights and not having them, no pulling the truck apart to do a install.. No holes to drill, no water Leaks. Take them off for a new truck.. the Batteries have come a long way and if there as good as they say, should work for years..I have cheap solar yard lights that are going on 4 years now. come on every night rain or shine.
