Trying to figure out where the following pictured items belong on my '84 F150. First photo is of a couple of carburetor solenoids. Second photo is of a fusible link coming off the battery side of the starter solenoid, end of yellow wire was cut, unknown what it is for or where it goes.
Last photo is of a red wire, with yellow hash marks, has blue male plug on one end, part of the Duraspark harness
It would of helped more if pictures were taken back a little farther so we know where the wires come from and go to like that yellow fuse link wire as it could go to anything / anywhere but I think it has something to do with power inside the truck? Maybe someone that has a wiring diagram that can tell you what the wires are for.
The other thing is your truck should be a feed back system truck but I see the dist. has been changed to a non-feed back one. Is the carb a feed back or non-feed back?
I am thinking the truck has been changed to non-feed back system so you will have wires & plugs left over.
You will also have some not used from the factory for other options not on the truck.

Feedback carb was already gone when I got the truck, I finished the job by converting to Duraspark 2. That fuse link comes from the battery side of the starter solenoid.

All fuse links come from the battery side of the solenoid.

If you have AC one of them would raise the idle speed when turned on.
The other with the spring is a dash pot and helps slow down how fast the throttle closes and may set the idle speed and when the key is turned off the idle cuts back even more to stop run on.
I would not trash them just yet as you may need them down the road or someone else may need them.

Ok thanks, I'll put the dash pot one back on, AC was already gone off my truck, so will save that one in case someone needs it
If the tuck run good and does not stall when coming to a stop you may not need the dash pot one they were mostly used for smog.
When you let off the gas the smog goes way up so they slow the throttle close down and you have less smog.
Now if you have the idle turned up so it will not stall, more so with auto tranys when in gear, when you shut the motor off you may get run on.
To stop this you use one of the solenoid to hold the idle speed and when you shut it off the solenoid turns off and the idle cuts back slower and stops run on.

If that is the case, you are going to have a pile of stuff going no where. You had a complete engine management system including a computer box that you are now not using.

Not anymore! The old EEC harness which had numerous bare wires is now resting in the dumpster
