Carb question...what does with or without TE mean?
Hello all again...I'm rebuilding the carb on my 67 f250...it has the 390. 2100 carb..I tore it all apart and soaked in berryman chem dip. Got a kit for 20 to rebuild it. I took off the "pump rod" and forgot which slot it was in...in the instructions I have says 67 390 without TE says to put it in ci/h but with TE says do/h

The 2100 pump rod lever has 4 holes or slots on one end, earlier 2100 carburetors had an inboard/outboard slot on the other end lever. What the different slots do is tailor the amount of squirt or "pump shot" of the carburetor accelerator pump. It's based on temperature. Gasoline has changed quite a bit from 1967 and so has your engine maybe, so the correct slot for your application is really a matter of cut and try anyway.
From the manual the very top hole slot is used for temperatures below 40°F, that's the richest setting. From 40°F to 90°F use the second hole slot from the top. Above 90°F use the third hole slot from the top. Can maybe try a richer or leaner setting if there's a bog or hesitation, either too rich or too lean can cause a stumble just off idle, but the factory setting is the place to start. Hope this helps. I don't know what TE means, but that's what the pump rod slots are for.
