I want to delete my egr and dpf on my 08 f350. I have the egr delete kit and found a pretty thorough video on youtube for the job. dpf seems quite simple as well. Anything I should be watchful of? I am currently in the market for a tuner. truck is a daily driver. I don't floor it (something I have come to learn). I will tow the odd flatdeck with lumber packages but nothing too nutty. Just want a generic tuner that is practical for my lifestyle and won't break the bank. Appreciate the help.
You can't delete until you have a tuner, sorry no suggestions, just make sure the tuner will cover a delete, not all do. I have a H&S tuner that I've had for 6 years, can't give you any suggestions on what is available now.
not really true....you can delete the DPF without a tuner if you can figure out a way to get 1.8psi of back pressure at idle and 4.X of back pressure at WOT...if you achieve this the vehicle will regen for 2 minutes every 600 miles.
some folks put a blocking plate after the cat converter and play with the hole size to get the back pressure the DPF sensor is looking for.
if you don't tweak the back pressure to trick the DPF full sensor, you will get a check engine light with an error code that says DPF below efficiency.
one of the problems with using tuners is that many have original 08 firmware . so if you have a 2010 which has two firmware u[upgrades, the tuner does not backup your existing upgraded firmware to reinstall if you need to back out...it will install the original plain vanilla 08 firmware.
Thanks guys.
i will be deleting dpf and egr for sure with a tuner. I drive an 08 so do I have a problem with tuner firmware fritz? Any suggestions for a simplistic tuner for daily driver needs would be helpful as well.
Thanks again.
I have had great luck with the Gearbox Z DPF-R+. When you go to remove the DOC and DPF, you will need a can of liquid wrench, a swivel adapter to get at the top bolt on the down pipe, and some big ratchet straps to pull the pipes apart.
Thanks guys.

google dpf-r+ high fuel rail pressure error. I think that delete solution under some situations on 08’s gives false high fuel rail pressure error codes.
