Tuner questions
My only experience with tuners is a superchips tuner I had for my 6.0
On the sct or H&S does the tunes come built in? I'm looking to get one when I'm ready to remove egr.
I want to make sure I have the tunes and tuner when I'm ready to delete the egr and put new exhaust on.
My superchips I plugged it in and was ready to go. The vin was tied to the tuner.
Any help appreciated on the education of the 6.7 tuners.

Snyder has some MiniMaxx Race tuners for $1400 and is pretty much the cheapest place around right now. The tunes are as 2ndStroke explained. You download them to a memory card and then update the tuner with the H&S tunes. They have a customer tune capability with the MCC software, but unless you KNOW what you are doing, the H&S tunes do just fine

So I don't need to buy anything more from H&S after buying the tuner?
I just want to make sure I don't need to get anything else now that the EPA is banning everything.
I want to have it all in hand for the future.

S.P.E will make you tunes with the MCC if you don't know what your doing, someone did a zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds with their tune.
All you need from h&s will be your unlock code and the tuner. Maybe get a egr delete soon too as some companies aren't making their deletes any more...I just ordered spe's, looks like a nice kit.

H & S isn't offering the delete. They are unlocking a previously legal capability built into the race tuners. Once they are gone (race tuners)...that's it.

From my understanding, the H&S tuner will derate/defuel the truck when certain paramaters are meet? Weather that is user set paramaters or preloaded parameters? And the Spartan will not derate/defuel the truck if you get into dangerous territory ie high egt's? GThose are the two biggest differences correct?

Spartan is a flash tuner where H&S mini and black maxx have 'shift on the fly' tuning to change between the different levels. To change levels on a Spartan you have to redownload the new tune to the computer, 10-20 min procedure.
I believe Spartan does now have EGT monitoring capabilities for the 6.7 and I would assume with monitoring it would also defuel, but that's just an assumption.

I don't know anyone with a Spartan. Everyone that I personally know or talk to has an H&S tuner. Their Customer Service is outstanding. They are a far larger company than Spartan. I didn't even consider Spartan when looking for a tuner. That's just my opinion.
