Finally Bought a 2019 F350 Platinum is Ford ESP Worth It

I’m new here, I just joined and am looking forward to being part of the community.

I finally did it.. I pulled the trigger on a new truck!!! I currently have 2010 F350 Lariat CCSB Lariat with 60,000. Its a great truck and I will miss it. It’s tuned and has been good to me. I’ll probably miss the smell of the exhaust more than anything... LOL! I’ve always loved the truck but have been wanting a new one since this body style came out. I finished up my alimony payments and figure it’s time to do something for me! I picked up a 2019 F350 CCSB Platinum and should be here in a couple weeks.

My question is, I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy the ESP with this truck. Are there cheaper places to buy than through the dealer? How about a service plan? My buddy bought a package that includes all his services. Don’t know what he paid but he likes it because he has the local dealer service his vehicle. Thoughts?

Thanks ahead of time.

With all the gadgetry and electronics, I bought it for my 2017 F450 Lariat Ultimate. I assumed I would keep the truck a long time but of course, things change.

I paid around $4000 for the ESP Premium Plan for 8 years / 125,000 miles. Not sure if that's a great price or terrible price but I was fine with it.

As mentioned, things changed and I sold the truck two weeks ago in a package deal with our camper. I bought the truck in May, 2017. I sold it for 17.5% less than I paid for it and having the Premium Care warranty helped a LOT. So for me, it was worth it, even if I didn't use it.

I think the electronics on this truck will go out long before the mechanicals so I personally am "all in" on ESP. I bought it online for a ton less than what the dealer wanted for it. Google for "Flood Ford ESP" as one example. Good luck!

Google the ESP. When I looked a while back, Zeigler Auto Group (sp?) had the best price I found.

I have ESP and Warranty to 200,000 Km or 125,000 miles. I recommend Ford, way less hassles, go to any Ford dealer for service and warranty. No cross talk about who did what, what needs to be approved. There are some online aford dealers that will compete on price, it’s easy to get them to quote, but get a price from the local dealer your buying from and will have maintenance done at.

Thanks guys.

I just compared pricing between FloodFord and Ziegler. It appears Flood is currently cheaper by about $300 for 8 years, 100,000 miles with $0 deductable.

Guess I’ll go with Flood unless the dealer can match it.

Let's face it. There is a LOT of haggle room typically for an extended warranty from Ford. I just bought an '18 F350 two weeks ago for my business use. Sitting down at the table, the finance manager started by offering me a seven year / 100,000 mile Ford Premium Care warranty for just under $5000. This was for a $45,000 XL work truck. I told I paid $4000 two years ago for my 8 year / 125,000 mile Premium Care on my 2017 F450 Lariat. After two more tries, he was down to $3000 for the same warranty plus some gimmick "seat and interior protection". I turned him down again.

With as sophisticated and expensive as these trucks have become, yes, the extended warranties are absolutely worth it.

Just bought a 8 year 150K from Zeigler for $4,500 for my 2019 F250 Powerstroke. Same price as Flood Ford. The truck demons follow me from vehicle to vehicle. Just traded in a 2017 F150 with 40,000 miles. $6,000 of steering work done on it, at of course $32,000 miles. 10 day rental in a F150 with the extended rental option no problem. Prior to that I had a Chevy 2500. Water pump then thermostats then power steering all between 100K and 120K. All total was $7,000. It is insurance and I hate getting hit with the huge bills especially in December. I received 90% of the F150 premium back from Ford when I traded in the F150 and it cost Ford $8,500 to pay for my repairs and send me a check when cancelled. If you bought a 6.7L then take a look under the hood. The part might be 5 bucks but the labor could break the bank. Yes it is a profit center for Ford just as car insurance for the insurance companies. They price it to sell and to make a profit. It is peace of mind for me and I drive about 20K a year and will turn it in at 150K or 8 years.

It’s an insurance policy. You need to weigh the pros and cons for your personal financial situation.

If you you can afford a big bill for an unexpected repair it’s not worth it (on the average)

I never buy extended warrantees. I’ve owned 56 new car/trucks and I probobly only had less than a total of $2,000 out of pocket expenses for repairs not covered.

I carry the largest deductibles on my auto collision policies. I also carry lots of liability insurance and umbrella policy, because I don’t want an accident to wipe out my assets.

Ive never totaled a car, I’ve never had a repair expense that would have exceeded an ESP Premium.

Mine paid for itself already (4 new rims and countless valve stems). If I'd paid out of pocket for that, I would've paid more than what I paid for the extended warranty. And I still have 7 more years of coverage already bought and paid for.

Were these repairs covered by the ESP or the standard 3/36 factory warranty?

Just make sure it`s an actual "Ford" branded and backed ESP and not a third party ESP that many car dealers offer and sell to it`s customers.

Also and since you have a Platinum, make sure you get the "optional" LED lighting coverage because it`s not included in the ESP packages.

With that being said, you can go online and compare prices of actual Ford ESP`s from different Ford dealers to find a good price. Flood Ford is one of the more popular dealers but there are others as well.
