hello guys wondering if yall can help me i heard a loud humming sound comming from my fuel pump amd later got the diesel reduce power code drove home and
change the fuel filters, filters looked bad and the diesel drained had some brown liquid im in the process of draining my diesel now. Should i be worried its my truck toast ? 2014 6.7 with 88,000 miles
That filter looks terrible, change interval is way overdue. Hopefully you didn't cause any damage to the HPFP.
Normal Operation = Every 22500 miles (36000 kilometers) or as indicated by the information display.
Severe Operation = Every 15000 miles (24000km), 6 months, 600 engine hours, or as indicated by the information display

I know whats next & it ain't good! I was told between $6000-10,000 to clean & replace the fuel system.
I opted for a used Chevy.
Sorry this happened to you
Typically the buzzing is from the LPFP. Are you talking about the frame rail unit (DFCM)? In this case, I can see why it was noisy.
Has the HPFP already self-destructed? If not, any metal bits in the pleats of the filters? Unsure if the HPFP can be accurately inspected. I assume it's cheaper to replace and clean prior to it sending shrapnel throughout the system.
The company I work for had an F350 6.7L get "bad fuel" a few years ago. It made it 10 miles after refueling. $9,000 to repair for new HPFP, etc. and it has been fine since.
The Bosch CP4.2 in the GM's haven't been much better.
Sorry for the delayed response OP. For some reason my email app tagged yesterday's email from FTE as spam. So I didn't see it.
After reading your posts, I'm confused about whether this is a recent or old problem. Your initial post made me think this just happened, but when I read your post about the buzzing, dealership response, and insurance dialogue for months, I'm thinking whatever you heard back is continuing to fail and contaminating your fuel. If the insurance found the fuel samples good, did you go back to the dealership with the results of the test? Makes me wonder how deeply they troubleshot the buzzing and their lack of action may have contributed to the current problem.

the dealership wasnt much help they basically just put diesel in a bottle and claim thats it was diesel contamination beacuse of the brown stuff in the diesel

yes the frame rale unit and i havent found no metal shavings in from the hpfp
Your original post states you were in the process of draining your fuel. Did you check the tank for contamination similar to the gunk that's on the filter and filter housing?
How is the truck running now? Reduced power go away after replacing the filters?
