I recently bought a F250 Lariat and just assumed that it would come would the front parking sensors which of course it did not. Would I be able to add sensors to my current bumper or am I just up the creek without a paddle here?
Thanks I have heard folks say they have added it and seen several kits. Just be nice to have the beep to avoid damaging the brand new truck but It is what it is
Ford doesn't do front sensors for any trucks, no matter the trim level. I'm guessing that integrating them into the existing system would be tricky at best. I used a stand-alone aftermarket system on my last Super Duty and they worked well for years until I sold the truck.
Do you recall how much you spent on the aftermarket system?
I don't. It was a number of years ago. The system I used was made by Bully Dog but they no longer make them. Go on Amazon and see what you can find. I suspect you'll find numerous options made by Chinese companies you've never heard of.
There are many aftermarket systems out there. They will not display on your screen but can offer a beep or a separate display for distance. I would be very careful ordering a set online without doing your homework once you drill holes you have them forever. There are several issues in doing sensors in a metal bumper, first is to make sure they are for a metal bumper, not just parking sensors. The sensor needs to be able to compensate for the metal expanding and contracting due to heat/cold. Many cheap sensor kits are made for cars plastic bumpers, not metal bumpers. Front sensors can also be triggered by speed sensing from OBD II or CAN connection, as well as have a override switch incase of snow or heavy rain while your driving. Rear sensors generally do not have these connections.
Last but not least you want a brand like ROSTRA or another that have a 3 / 36 warranty and are used by installers that do dealership (expediter) work. There is a big difference in the reliability and quality over the amazon stuff.
Now one other solution would be adding a front camera to your vehicle. You can get a device that connects to your monitor and will display a add on camera by you pushing a button on the radio or by speed. There is a good company called ADC Mobile that offers and supports these products. www.adcmobile.com
I have Rostra interface in my truck for the front camera.
I'm going to put a camera on the front of my Lariat and use a monitor that clips onto the rearview mirror. I haven't decided whether I'm going to hard wire the video lead or go wireless. Tadi brothers has a ton of different systems to choose from. My truck sits up so high that it's hard to tell when your about to hit the car in front of you when parking.

I would recommend against wireless, it sounds like a good idea but picks up interference from everything else on 2.4gz. That is wifi, baby monitors, security cameras, 2 way radio's etc. They are easier to install but that's about it. There are a ton of mirror replacements with a monitor built in, you can even get one with auto dimming just like the oem mirror. The toughest part is getting the camera cable into the cab, but there is an un-used nipple on the large grommet by the steering column that you can get through.
That's what I'm leaning toward for the very reason you said. The problem was threading the cable through the firewall. I'll look for that access point. The other problem with wire less is the transmitters I had before tended to get rather hot. Not good if your tucking them into the headliner.
Why not just go OEM front camera and high mount camera. If you have the tailgate cam already you can add it all through the same screen. I had the links from a camera source, I can try and find them.
