Neither is fast, neither handles well, neither is reliable but the Dodge is built out of literal human feces. Keep that in mind at all times.

If you want to go fast, diesel trucks are not the way to do it. And if you only use it for "fun" well that's your right to do, but generally, driving an always empty heavy duty truck makes you kind of a douchebag.
Ahh c'mon. My dad sold me his 2003 F250 with 69k miles on it for $8k. I had a C6 Z06 before and sold it to get this truck since it was a good deal and won't have a car payment. On top of that I could turn around and sell it for $12k+ of wanted. I keep mine empty 90% of the time unless I am moving something large. Oh also I will have 3 babies in the back in May .

Learning how a 7.3 works is a great way to actually get employed as a diesel mechanic. There are millions of these trucks out there still and they are quirky enough that lots of mechanics simply don't know what's going on. We see bad diagnosis all the time. The basic concepts of HEUI on the 7.3 is shared with some CAT engines, and of course it is an International Harvester engine so there's plenty of those on the road too. I'll attach a conceptual diagram.

7.3s can make plenty of power for their intended use, and will outlast pretty much everything else on the road. 400 hp is not hard, past that is far more expensive. But making one of these rigs fast is kind of a fantasy.

Actually my fast fantasy rig is a Windstar; leave all the FWD gas engine stuff intact (so it passes smog) and fab in a bullet-proofed 6.0, trans and axle in the back to drive the rear. Green with woodgrain on the side. Even got a vanity plate for it; "gunadi". About a parsec out of my skill set tho. Maybe when Cody (Cleatus12R) gets done with his Crown Vic with 7.3 project....
