Flipped to Ford
I was all set to wait for the redesigned Chevrolet and then decided to get a 2500 for the additional tow capacity. Well the 2500 redesign is a year after the 1500. I was tired of waiting after 11 years with the same truck and was impressed with my Dad’s 2016 F150 Platinum enough to buy a Ford. I had a bad experience with my wife’s 2008 Expedition but I think Ford is currently making a better truck.
The expedition had what I thought and my Ford dealer thought was a locked up 5.4L motor. They wanted like 8k to do a motor swap and the thing was only worth 10k before it locked up. So I towed it home and pulled the motor. Timing chain needed work and it felt very tight to turn when out of the vehicle so I sent it to a machine shop. Had it rebuilt. Stuck it back in the vehicle and it was still locked up. Pulled the motor again and found the torque converter was locked up the whole time, not the motor. Oh well. Lesson learned. The thing I hated about the job was how little room there was to work under the hood. Knuckle buster special... My 5.3L Silverado has room under the hood for days. Heck I could probably crawl in the engine bay and close the hood. No problem getting to spark plugs, starter.
Anyway that wasn’t the only problem I’ve had with that 2008 Expedition and every time I work on it I curse Ford. But I figured hey if I buy a new truck I won’t have to work on it for years anyway.
So so I got a 2019 F250 STX Oxford White, 6.2L, FX4, 4.30 Rear, Sync 3, Ultimate Tow Camera, Power Equipment Package, and a few other options.
I love the truck so far. Lots of payload. Rated to tow 14,000 lbs. and already towed that weight. Exceeded expectations. No carpet is great.
So far.... I’ve added a B&W Turnover Ball GN hitch and plug in the bed for the GN trailer. I ceramic tinted the windows 15% all the way around (truck came without privacy glass). I ordered a set of Wet Okole seat covers that I’m waiting on.
Thoughts on the future:
Add keypad to door. I know this will be worth the trouble one day.
When my tires are due for replacement i want to put 37s on it but I HATE LEVELING KITS. I know this is unpopular but half the trucks I see don’t look level and the truck looks lower in the back than the front. And I don’t want to squat more when I tow. When I tow that’s when I want to be close to level. Most of the trucks I see look like they’re squatting even when unloaded and I think it looks awful. No offense to anyone I know I’m in the minority here. Most think the front being lower looks bad but I prefer it. So any suggestions on a lift kit that will lift the front and back equally are great appreciated.
I want to use the upfitter switches. Need to decide what to use them on.
Love my truck so far and I’ll post pics when I get some daylight. Looks so much better with the windows tinted. Happy to be converted to Ford so far as I get a grin on my face everytime I get behind the wheel. I considered the diesel but according to the specs it was overboard unless you get a DRW and a CDL License. Maybe one day when the extra money means nothing to me.
Love the forum. Great content in here. My name is Denny. I know there is a good fella around here already with that name.

Anyway, enjoy your new toy.

I went with a larger tire but not a 37. My 325's are 34.6 and I have no problems with tire rub on the front mud flaps at any steering wheel position. And I didn't have to (never would anyway) spend money on a lift or level.
