Just bought my 2019 F 250 XLT 6.2L FX4 CC 6.75 ft bed. Just turned over 500 miles. It has powered assisted hydraulic steering. I find the steering to be somewhat stiff especially making a turn with one hand. It is night and day compared to my F 150 that had adaptive steering. But really power steering should not be this stiff when turning in my opinion. Is it just me or is there an issue I should address with the dealership? I brought this up when I test drove the truck and their tech looked at it and said no issue was found. Anyone else with this type of truck notice this?

Reason: Left something out
Solid front axle is a lot different than IFS. Its just the way it is. Unless its really difficult for you, you'll get used to it. Test drive another one with adaptive steering and see if it handles the same.
Try adding a dual steering stabilizer and then it will get really stiff The good thing, is if you run over-sized tires the stiffer steering will eliminate any bump steering.
I don't think it's an issue with SuperDuties. I think it's an issue with ALL new vehicles. It seems that as the years go by, steering gets stiffer on vehicles....from cars to trucks across all makes & models. I HATE it too, as my hands and arms get fatigued on long trips just holding the steering wheel for the crown of the road.
When I was a kid, my dad would let me sit on his lap and steer. As a child I could steer a '75 International Travelall with just a couple fingers. Same with his '88 F150.
I've owned two '78 F150's, a '78 Bronco, two '88 F350's, a '91 Aerostar, a '94 Bronco, '96 F250, etc....and all of them can be turned lock-to-lock with just a finger or two. My '97 F150 was noticeably stiffer. '06, '07, and '16 Dodge trucks, all very stiff. My parents' Ford Freestyle. And the stiffest of all....my '18 SD.
I don't know why the manufacturers design steering to be this bad...I thought all this new fangled technology in the 21st century should have made things better....not worse!
It’s never going to be finger-light like an Audi or quite the ease of a smaller truck but... don’t make a judgement yet. I’m at 7,000 miles now and had a post in my first 500 complaining about the tightness of the steering and slow return to center. The front end did loosen up and improve. Hang in there and enjoy the new rig!
