I agree it's not ironclad proof of anything. That package certainly has an authentic appearance. Don't know to what lengths counterfeiters go to. Hope the OP gets the issue sorted out.

I still have mine that I bought awhile ago (probably a year or more) and haven't got it installed yet. I got it from White Bear Lake Auto Nation Ford.

He was last on tonight at 10:08 so he may not get to it tonight but I did message him with a link to this thread.

How close is your local dealer? Probably would be your quickest way of knowing if yours is the current version as dated on your package.

Until a package is found at a dealer with a date code of middle Nov 2018 there's no way to tell unless you have a direct connection to Allen Park.

PM sent to the OP.

Could be a change from Ford. Of all the lines we carry, we're almost never notified of any running change on any part. It's entirely possible that Ford changed their supplier and their construction methods for this part. I'm sending this over to our Customer Service Manager so we can check into it.

Counterfeiting is so bad that Ford's security division would have us place what looked like machine marks or an errant punch mark on products to identify a correctly sourced part. Same with the packaging, a little smudge or errant ink mark. They will go to that extent to make a dollar, renminbi, rupee, or whatever.

Went to Ford dealer today, compared my product to his Ford oem part, package looks the same, dealer compared my part to his, he said that they sell many of the tubes and has NEVER seen one like mine.

The bag at Ford dealer looked the same, including part numbers, was dated July 2018. Dealer said he has sold several of these down tubes and has never seen one like mine. Spoke with Joe at XDP, he checked his inventory and all parts look same as mine, XDP is giving me full refund on the part so I can purchase locally, he is also sending me a gift card for the inconvenience. Kudos to XDP !
