1998 ranger system
I want to put a sub and amp in my 98 ranger. I have the sub and amp but havn't looked into actually doing it yet. what I want to know is if my stock cd player has a remote wire for the amp? also if I'm going to need any special tools for taking out the cd deck?

No, the stock radio doesn't have an rca output on it. You can get a line converter from wal-mart that will take a signal from one of the rear speaker wires and convert it to an rca output, or use an amp with speaker level inputs. As for the remote wire, just find some ignition-switched power source and tap off of that. Or, and my vote would be, pitch the stock deck, go to wal-mart and pick up an 80 deck with an rca output and remote wire built in, and have a setup that works much better. As for the tools to remove the cd player, there should be this little 2 prong deal to push into the holes... I'm gonna assume wal-mart or maybe a sound shop will have these available for cheap...
