38 gallon sender

I am contemplating going with the 38 gallon rear tank on a 88 f250. I havent found the exact answer to my question yet. It appears by looking at the kit that comes with the tank to cut the two solid lines and solder the two patch pieces in place. The question i cant find an answer to is, is there any modification to the float wire to make this work? I know with the mid 90s obs sending units the float wire had to be messed with to get it to work. After looking over the differences between the 87-91 sending unit float wires it appears that there shouldn't be the need for modification. Figured id check before embarking on this project.

From what i have seen is people leave the float alone and when it gets to 19 gallons the needle will start to move. I have seen where people modify the float wire and it is still very inaccurate

Find a welding shop or go buy 3/32 316 stainless steel tig wire. You only need 1 piece of it and it 36 inches long. I believe that if you bend a new arm and make it 6 inches longer that makes it read correctly. The new tank is 6 inches deeper I believe. It's been a few years since I did it so check these numbers. It's easy to do
