Wiper Control Module

I am original owner of a 1986 E350 Club Wagon with 165,000 miles on it. Over past couple of years intermittent wiper operation has been unreliable. Low and high speed has been OK. Recently, intermittent quit completely. My go to shop said the control module was dead and they could not find a replacement. I am wondering if there are any options such as finding a switch that only has one intermittent speed. From some other posts I have read, it seems that the control module affects low and high speed wiper operation as well so if mine is dead or dying it makes sense to find a way to eliminate it.

If a new module isn't available you could revert to an early year electrical schematic without the wiper delay system to see how it was wired. Not sure if the motor would be compatible with the earlier circuit but that's one way to go about eliminating that control module completely.

I'd personally spend some internet time searching for a new unsold module somewhere here in the USA. User NumberDummy here on FTE has older part numbers and has been amazing helping others locate supposedly obsolete parts that remain on dealer's shelves.

No such thing.
FOUZ-17C476-A (replaced D5UZ-17C476-A & E1UZ-17C476-A) .. Intermittent Wiper Governor / Obsolete

Applications: 1975/91 Econoline aka E100/350.

NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has 1 = 913-220-5746.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 7 = 800-476-9653 (listed as F0UZ-17C476-A).
----------
All 1975 and later E100/350's have two speed wipers, intermittent (also known as "delay") wipers were optional.

There are TWO different wiper switches, with or without intermittent wipers:

1975/91 E100/350 & 1973/78 LTD

D3AZ-17A553-C .. Two Speed Wiper Switch - Use without intermittent wipers (Motorcraft SW-1156-A) / Obsolete ~ 110+ available NOS

D3AZ-17A553-D .. Two Speed Wiper Switch - Use with intermittent wipers (Motorcraft SW-1155-A) / Obsolete ~ 8 available NOS
