Hello,
wanted to jump in here 2 yrs late, but I think I own your dads truck. Color code is U8 I live in Battle Ground, Wa
the pic wasn’t very good but I have the exact worn paint areas that I can see in the picture
Can’t be a coincidence.
Truck is out of Moses Lake Washington. Like I said it was sold in the 90s at some point. Truck had a 360 and a 4spd. I don't know what the gears were maybe 3.25s or lower.
I actually live in West Linn just to the south of you. I'd love to come check it out if you have time.
That’s great that you got on the forum, found this thread and popped in with your info Brwstr!
glad you chimed in and I hope it works out to be the OP‘s old truck.
Be great to know where it landed and catch up with it.
I hope he follows up too. I would really like to see if its the same truck. I looked into the ford color charts and his U8 code which is lime metallic, which sounds about right, but the dark yellow(sandpiper) doesn't track with my memory so it will be neat to see how in person holds up.
Sorry for the delayed response, been busy. Ok you may have mentioned a critical factor, this truck is an automatic. The yellow paint is not dark, it is very light, it’s actually considered a light green….. looks yellow to me. I looked at the pic again and the paint marks on the bed match. I believe this bed was changed out, it doesn’t line up properly. It did come off of a narrow frame Highboy though. The bed paint and cab paint are the same colors but did not get painted together. So it could very well be that the bed of this truck. Also Ford didn’t make any camper specials on the Highboy platform for fear of roll overs.

The colors are a match but the drive train and roof color definitely aren't the same. Roof color was the dark green. Camper special was 2wd even being a 3/4 ton.
there is one for sale in Hubbard I think that is a dead ringer for yours.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I am going to go with Ivy Glow on top and Pastel Lime on the bottom. At least that is what I see according to the paint chart.
Hey Stangman70, I hope you're still active on here. I have a '74 highboy with paint code 2N which I believe would be pastel lime (below trim line aka bottom half of the body and it would also be on the top of the roof and behind the top half of the cab) and then ivy glow (above the trim line which would include the hood and cowl). I have been searching google images endlessly with no avail as to find another truck out there with the same color combo. Was your dads truck a 1974? Ivy glow and pastel lime were only available in 1974. The closest combo I could find is this: pastel lime w/ limestone green but the limestone green is a lighter green than the ivy glow. You mentioned that the upper portion of your dads truck was a lighter green? So maybe his was limestone instead of ivy. If you ended up going with pastel lime w/ ivy glow, could you post some pictures? I can't find ANY trucks with this color combo in that order. So no matter what color your dads truck was, based on how you've described the colors it was probably a very rare color. Unfortunately my truck was repainted a maroon color but I'm thinking of painting it the original color.

Near as I can tell my Dad's truck in that combination is super rare, ive only seen one other truck like it. I haven't gotten to paint and body as other projects have taken priority. If you can tell from the picture of my dads truck from 1980 from the dent and up is all one color. Most of the two tone trucks i have seen have the back window portions painted the lower color but that was not the case for dads truck. That said I think that the 2U code is the way to go. 2 is Limestone and U is the Pastel Lime, trucks I have seen two tone have wimbeldon as the lower color and its not right. It was more of an off white with yellow in the lower color. The truck was a 74 camper special with a 360, 4spd, 2wd. Drove it around the farm for years hauling handlines on a trailer.

From what I can tell in your picture It looks like your dads truck is pastel lime on roof and It continues down the back corners of the cab. But I agree your dads was probably just like the one in the link I showed then. According to the person that wrote that ad, there was only 47 trucks manufactured in that color. I’m going to get a marti report on mine to see how many had ivy glow, I assume the number is even lower than that of limestone.
So I did some more research and got an old brochure from 1974 stating the color schemes available. If what you remember is correct and my eyes are just fooling me, your dads was a “deluxe.” 2 = pastel lime, U = limestone green. So I’m guessing your dads paint code would’ve been 2U. I believe the first digit of the paint code is the “accent” color and the 2nd digit is the “body” color (see picture for visual explanation).
