91 aerostar 40,000+ miles, 3.0 motor van was run untill gas tank was dry, filled tank, van would not start. put pressure gage on test **** @ fuel rail, showed no pressure. fuel pump is audiable, and relays have power. asked around and was told to check fuel pump cutoff switch and reset. however owners manual is not in van.
two qestions.
location of fuel pump cutoff switch.
if fuel system is vapor locked what is the easiest way to bleed pressure and re-prime.
If you can hear the pump, the switch will not be your problem as it cuts the power to the pump. I would say that since the tank was run dry and you can hear the pump run that the pump is bad. The fuel in the tank helps cool the pump to keep it from overheating.
This thing doesn't have two pumps, does it?
lol i'm not either i think they're crap, you know when you have to pull off both front tires to change the plugs some engineer had his head in his a** but no just a single pump, i plan on pulling the fuel line away from the filter and see if the pump will send it that far, if not i guess i'll have to pull the pump out and replace it
