My 73 f100 so far

Talking with a couple people about their builds and they suggested I post mine up here. Started as a 1973 short bed with a 302 manual. So far I have done the crown vic front end with the ford 8.8 in the rear. The motor is out of a wrecked 2005 P71 crown vic with 54k miles. Right now im waiting for the ron francis stand alone harness and the Mustang tank to come in to get it running. I did a parallel bar 4 link in the rear and modified the crown vic watts link to work. Waiting on the weather to get a little bit warmer to paint the frame then ill run the brake and fuel lines. C notched the frame slightly so I had a little bit more travel without having to cut into the bed. Looking back i would have done the notch a little different because as it is now if i set the frame on the axle the rear bumper hits the ground first so i have way more than needed. Not going any lower than level with the crown vic front end. Rear shocks are QA1 11 inch mounted at 20 degrees with 300# coils. They may be a little too soft once the bed and tank go in but we will see.

Need to get the crown vic brake booster onto the cab and rebuild the steering column because the bearings are toast then its going to start going back together. Dont mind the disaster that my shop is.

Just subscribed to this as I'm just starting my own 73 with a 302 with column shift.

isnt that crossmember going to make servicing the transmission almost impossible?

It's a little over kill I know but I can still get to everything on the trans. It's also bolted in so it's easy to take out if needed.

If people upload high enough resolution pics you can click on them and they'll display a lot larger for you. I just clicked on the first pick and then snooped around for anything that would give it away. lol

4 link I have gone back and forth on. I originally got a universal kit but I didnt like how it lined up very well. At the end of the day I ended up using the bars from the universal kit because they were adjustable and made my own brackets on the frame. I went back and forth with using a panhard bar but I didnt want to cut into the bed at all so I couldn't think of a way to really make that work so I went with the watts link. The crown vic watts link arms are 22 or so inches and they had to be cut down to about 16 11/16. In all honesty the universal kit would have worked fine I was just picky. A panhard bar without cutting the bed was the hard part. I'll grab some more pics of it later.

and to the people asking, Flagstaff Arizona.

Couple updates for anyone interested. Finally got all the fab work done on the frame. Pulled everything off and went back to bare frame. Used the POR 15 paint on the rear end and also on the frame. Very happy with how that stuff came out as long as it lasts. Got the front end back in with the motor in and working on finding a steering column. Also need to get the brake booster from the crown vic in next. Starting to look like a truck again

Very nice! It's hard to tell from the pictures, did you fabricate all of the mounting for the front crossmember? Or did you use a kit of some kind?

I’d be interested to know what you would do for headers, and are you keeping the a/c?

I cut the sleeves out of the crown vic frame and just cut the f100 frame to make the fit. Then just some stell to box the frame
