What are the things that I can do to my 97 P.S.D to increase my milage. I am geting 17mpg highway empty( no load) is this as good as it gets or what mods can I do?
I was getting the same fuel mileage as you when I got my truck. I bought at that time a Superchips 50 hp chip, turbo downpipe, Pulled cat., magnaflow muffler with outlet in front of rear tire, Tymar intake, and boost and egt gauges. Just after that with adding Power Service fuel additive I get around 21 highway with no load.
I get a little better than 20 with only a 1000lbs of stuff when on the highway. Not sure completely empty. Mine is a 4x4 extended cab 8' box. Just a straight pipe and 255,000 miles.
I'd LOVE to get that kind of mileage!!! My best is 17 mpg city/hwy average. For some reason, I seem to get better mileage on the rear tank than on the front.
Just curious. When most of you speak of your MPG are you going off of your MPG gauge overhead or are you doing this the old fashion way with the odometer reading and gallons added at the pump.
My '97 is stock and the best I got was 15 on a 200 mile trip, driving it "like a little ol' lady" .... It cost me down to 13 to run it over 2000 RPM but that's the way it's got to be ...It has 51000 miles on it......I don't have one of those electronic cyphering gagdets....
I get 15 in town or 15 on the highway. I get 15 if I drive Miss Daisey or Haul the Mail. I have tried SCMT and Predator (all programs) and have seen zero improvement. I still have stock intake and exhaust. I would be stoked with 17.
I have a 2000 F250 Crew Cab PSD, with a 6 foot bed and its not 4 wheel drive. I can baby it around or drive like a maniac, load or no load and it never budges from 13.5 MPG. It's got about 114,000 on it. I was kinda looking for ways to improve my mileage also.
