The pulley on the AC Compressoron my 2001 F250 4x4 with the V10 broke. I don't have the money to fix the AC at this time. Is there a way to run a shorter serpentine belt? I don't need AC at the moment.
Don’t have an answer for you, but I’d think the proper belt wouldn’t cost much more than a shorter belt, so I’d put the proper belt in. You’d end up having to spend the money on the proper belt at some point, I assume, so might as well do it now. Shorter belt might cause unexpected problems; maybe balance issues....who knows.
Some companies sell bypass pulleys that bolt in place of the a/c compressor. This permits use of the original length serpentine belt. I know that autozone sells them for certain vehicles.
