TPMS

I have a ‘17 platinum F250 and will be buying a new enclosed car hauler. Will the tpms receiver in the truck pickup air presure readings from tpms sensors in trailer tires, without using the $500 kit that ford sells? The kit seems a little pricey. Cant tell if it is simply putting an additional receiver closer to the trailer wheels, or if that is the only way to pickup the readings from the trailer sensors.

I measure my trailer tire pressures with an aftermarket TPMS kit (Amazon). Sensors attach to the valve stems and the receiver is solar powered. Accurately measures tire pressures and temps. Kits are available for under a hundred bucks. Mine works very well. I throw it on the dash board when towing and in the console otherwise.

As said above, you need the Ford kit. It's well integrated into the dashboard system. The kit itself is fairly easy to install once you have the TPMS sensors in the wheels.
