2018 emblem removal ?

2018 emblem removal ?
looking to remove both "ford" emblems for paint. front emblem seems fairly straight forward.
Tailgate emblem is where my question is, ive been reading it must be broken and then glued back together ? Is there some way to avoid this ? There was a how-to thread on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it now.

There should be panel on the inside of the tailgate I removed to get to the tabs of the emblem. Still hard to get it off, but I didn’t break anything.
from there I broke both emblems apart so I could paint the pieces separately and then superglued them back together.

I pried mine off which broke them all I think once the tape start to give way. My painted on came with new tabs.
Not for the faint of heart.
