Older Sync updates

I have a 2012 FX4 5.0 and I had same issue. I did the updates in order of release date and vers #'s just in case as I didnt know if the newest release included older releases and Im in great shape...updated maps and synch...no issues.

when I did it I had no troubles. If I remember correctly I downloaded it and copied to the usb drive just as is and uploaded.....did nothing with it and all worked well.
I know that does not help but...I hope you get it straightened out. Maybe another usb might help I did it with a totally blank USB with NOTHING else on the drive.

Its been awhile since I performed an update, but I think a 'completion notice' file gets written to your USB (by the truck/sync) when the install completed, and then you go back to the download web site and its reads your USB to update the Ford records that you completed the install.

its been a couple of years years since I've done it, and I have the basic system, no flat/touch screen.
but if I remember, you go to some site like myfordtouch or something like that. Create a login. Download the update to a USB drive, plug that into your truck and go through the process.
now I oversimplifying it, and there are many many steps and it took a long time, but it worked.
now sync works like crap with my iPhone 5, about the only thing that works is phone calls, but other features are disabled. I've read that 4.6 broke the system and that 4.4 was better, but I had just bought my truck and didn't know any better.
to me having phone sync is a wash, there's good and bad.
