Sounds like something in the transmission broke. You'll have to pull it and inspect.

Thanks for the reply. Thats kinda what I was thinking. A "second" is always useful. I will tear it apart and inspect, as you suggest.

Before you tear it apart, take the wiper arms off the stubs just to see if somehow it’s stripped first. Probably not, but it’s an easy check at least.

I agree that it is somewhat unlikely, however - I will definitely check that, per your advise.
