get it closed and leave it closed, order the new window cable system and replace it, its super easy to install
mine had all the same symptoms, it is eating itself inside the mechanism. mine was totally jammed up inside, the steel cable destroys the plastic drum inside and ties itself in a knot. eventually it will quit moving altogether, of course it will be in the open position when that happens
found a new motor assembly on ebay

Here’s the link. But at $270, I chose to implement an easy solution for $FREE.99 —— I no longer use the rear window
It’s winter anyway. Maybe I’ll change my mind in the spring. But I’ll tear that thing apart trying to rebuild it before I throw $270 at a part.
