We do not use the sunroof in our King Ranch but an employees 12 year old daughter wanted to see it. My wife opened it but it would not close. One side opened and the other did not so it would not seal. As it turns out the track broke and they want $2,200 to fix it.
Sorry to here that Mark, Ford is using plastic parts on the sunroof's now. And not very reliable I had mine in to ford 2 times (warranty) replaced the hole assy the 2nd time. Ford knows that it is a bad design, keep after them. How far out of warranty are you ? I ended up trading mine in for a CCLB I had a SB with no sunroof and could not be happer. Dave
I know it’s a different model and year but I have a 2013 F-150 KR, with a sunroof as a standard item. I used it maybe 5 times? Last time I used it, the plastic/nylon gears broke. The dealer wanted $800-900 to fix it. Luckily, I found a one-man shop who cuts in sunroofs for older cars, and he fixed it for about $150. The aftermarket shop was fixing quite a few Ford sunroofs. I never opened it again.
Sunroofs are one of the many reasons I ordered my 2019 F350 as a Lariat Ultimate, and not a KR, Platinum, or Limited.
I always use the "vent" option on mine prior to opening it. The things we have to worry about living in cold weather..... Every now and then it takes a second to unfreeze enough to open. Just hoping I don't hear that pop sound and it stays open before our lovely Utah snow storms we get here.

We are 10,000 miles out of warranty and the 100,000 mile extended warranty does not cover it.

The vent option is where is got stuck. We are south of Richfield and it was snowing when it happened. Jorgenson Ford took it apart and could not fix it without ordering parts. Now I am driving around with it taped closed with collision tape.

I love sunroofs in my vehicles, but I found my f-250 without the sunroof I jumped on it. I have heard nothing but bad things about the twin panel sunroof.
