Ford part numbers
I know, that a servo/controller from a Taurus fits and works on an E350 due to a Youtube video, I watched.
I've found a module on a danish version of Craigslist called "Den Blaa Avis" (The Blue Newspaper) from a euro-Ford Mondeo, and it's for all intents and purposes completely similar to a module from a Taurus, E250, F-series and so on...
Is there any real difference between the different part numbers...?
Thanks in advance

Link for the video, I mentioned:
I don't want to dash your hopes this repair is as easy as this YouTube video makes it---in all reality he probably just got lucky the substitute part from the '98 Expedition worked without any modification to the chassis wiring or the servo electronics inside its case. He is correct in that any servo equipped with a different bracket would have another part number but that alone is not the only difference.
OTOH after a bit of research I find this site that might be useful too: Bowen-Scarff Ford Parts
The servo's you need are vastly similar in their operation: the only difference would be the chassis wiring for which they're intended to fit. I've yet to find one with a part number fitting one chassis that is a direct plug-n-play replacement on the E-Series. I went though this trying to fit the "wrong" year VSC kit into my 2000 E250---didn't work no matter what was done. Once I found a NOS kit unsold a few states away installation was easy and worked first time out. Even in 2009 though those kits for the 2000 were pretty much obsolete and unavailable--I got exceptionally lucky finding one from the original supplier of these kits to Ford---they're long out of business though.

Here's another YouTube video showing how a crafty and patient person with some electronics assembly skills can modify the servo itself, someone even more motivated could alter the chassis wiring to fit the servo's functions. The video:
I may have to face this same sort of replacement on either my 2000 E250 or the 2003 E250--whichever one doesn't get sold or scrapped out this spring.

HTH
And sorry, of course I should have mentioned the build year. It's a 1993 E250 5.8 build in Canada...
I tried the Mondeo servo, and it worked for a while - all the buttons did, what they should. .. Trying to find out, why it stopped again....
LATE Edit (it's 3am in Denmark right now) : I've been testing all the connections as shown in the Service Manual. It turns out, that the buttons on the steering wheel - and the connection rings inside the steering column is in bad shape. The whole thing does weird things, when I turn the steering wheel. I.e. when I testet the Set/Acc button while turning the wheel, it send about a gazillion Set/Acc commands to the connector, so my test lamp looked like a strobe light... After I had released the button.
Same with the On and Off buttons...
Wonder, what previous owners have done to that steering wheel...?!
