I have a 52 ford rat rod that has a twin I beam front end axles for the late 60's to early 70's truck or van. How do I tell what year the axles and spindles are and what are they from? Thanks
Ford parts use an engineering number cast in them that starts with a letter that usually signifies the decade the part was first introduced. Next is a number which is the year. As an example, C7 means 67. Do you have 5 bolt wheels which mean a F-100/150 TIB axles, or 8 bolt? Do you have disc brakes?
Thanks for the info, the reason for my question is we want to know what different spindles can fit on the axles. I'm guessing they are 1973 F100 2WD, 1975 E100/150 & F150 2WD axles . We'd like to change the spindles to something better that we can add brackets for a drag link and steering bracket. Are you able to see the pictures Ii posted in the link?
The information we got when we got the rat rod was the previous owner used a parts truck to build this...It has a 351C for an engine which is more like a 1978-1979 F150. We are still researching parts numbers to figure out what it has...The joy of owning a rat rod...lol
