I have an RV with a Ford 7.5 liter engine. I keep blowing coils. I have replace the ignition module but it still keeps happening.
I have checked the power coming from the ignition and it read 12.0 - 12.5 on the clip. When I attach the clip to the coil it reduces to 7.0 - 7.5. If I start the engine - it bounces all over the place - from 3.5 - 11.5.
From what I can see, the positive comes straight from the ignition to the positive on the clip that goes on the coil. This wire on the diagram shows that it should have a resistance wire. I am not sure how to tell if this wire is working.
I have considered running a new wire to a resistor (the resistance wire is obsolete arording to the parts supply house I go to) and then from there to the coil.
