Im buying a lightduty 86 f250 truck (302 5.0fi) from a guy who owns a early 60s ford truck that has a 9 foot flareside bed that im thinking of installing onto the 86. Does anybody have experience with this or something similar? Im going to take measurements but if someone already has a good estimate that would be great.
yes it would, i always dreamed of putting it on a m35 6x6 chassis but with a crewcab that would be to short. as the m35 only had a reg cab and 12 foot bed

My estimate, even though I have never tried it, is it will not work unless you cut the 9 ft bed up. Like in your other post where I replied, you need to stick with 1980-1998 trucks, 1996 if you are messing with f150's. If you have loads of tools, much experience and fab skills, you can make anything work. If not, stick with what bolts up.

And that's the truth jack!
I made a long bed metal floor fit a short bed flare side that comes with a wood floor from the factory.
I think to make the 9 foot bed work you would need to make the wheel base longer to use the full 9 foot bed.
Other wise you would need to make it shorter to fit right.
Wait ..... does the flare side bed sides have indents for the wheels like the 80-86 flare side beds do?
If so that would say where the bed has to be located but if not then you may need to move the fenders to fit the wheels and make the frame a little longer to fit the bed.
Then what is the measurement between the wheels and how wide the bed is, will it fit between them?
The other thing to look into would be where the bed bolts to the frame. How wide is the bed bolt holes to your frame. I don't remember how wide the bolt holes / frame is on our trucks but I had a post asking for measurements and it might be listed in there?
Also note that the frame from the back of the cab to the rear is not flat. IIRC the beds used different cross members to make the floor level.
