Auxiliary A/C-heater fan troubles
Hi All,
I recently got my 2000 Excursion and the controls for the rear fan does not seem to turn on at all for the lower settings and for the highest fan setting I hear a relay/fan kick in/out every second or so. I have not dug into it yet, but has anyone experienced a similar trouble? I assume I can find the relay as it is making the noise in the dash, but can anyone point me to what else to look at? Maybe a schematic? Does all the air/heat/AC for the back originate from the fan in the back/side, or is that only for the 3rd row duct and the overhead comes from the front?
Thanks
PS - the forum is really great. Thanks for the help. I already repaired the overhead trip computer and have the solenoids for the door lock repairs and one window motor ready to go thanks to other posts on the forum. Also I'm about to order the longer struts for the rear hatch. I think I might go with the medium length 4x2 ones so it only opens a bit more, instead of going way up with the longest ones, as I am concerned I might not be able to safely open it in the garage. Does anyone know if the 4x2 struts on a 4x4 are sufficiently high enough to avoid head bonking for a 6-2 person? Thanks!
Nathan.

Read up here. Stuff like this is filed away in the tech folder at the top of the Excursion forum page. You will find answers to just about any question/modification you could have up there.

Thanks Nicmike. I saw the tech folder and had already looked there. That link you gave is for the front blower, which is working fine. I did re-look at anything related to the "rear" from the tech folder. I see that from one of the pics of the rear, that the rear fan is indeed for the both the rear ceiling and side vents. So, now I just need to figure out what's up with the electrical signal to the fan back there. I found the link to download schematics from BBB Industries- Premium Alternators, Starters, Power Steering Products | BBB Industries- Premium Alternators, Starters, Power Steering Products, so I guess I will start there.
