Hi everyone. I'm lucky enough to have a 2012 with cooled seats. Best option I ever had! Anyways, I have been noticing, lately, that when the fan is on it seems noisy, and by that I mean I can hear a mild hum. It's really not loud or anything. Maybe it's been there from day one, but I'm starting to notice more and more. When the truck was under warranty my service rep has told me they have to change the filters in them. As time went on and I ran out of warranty I have read some threads about this with people debating the 'it has a filter-it doesn't have a filter' installed so I decided to check myself. Mine doesn't have a filter. Was my service guy feeding me bull? Did they not reinstall one? Is this perhaps the cause of hearing the fan a bit because there is no filter? Maybe it's just my imagination and the fan noise was always there. It does get a bit louder as I bump up the speed. The truth is it's just plain bothering me now and I'm wondering what to do about it. Any of you guys experiencing the same?
The noise from the cooled seats in my 2011 are noticeable. Not loud, but definitely there. Had been like that since I bought it new.
I seem to recall checking the filter at one time for some reason. I think it was just a small round piece of plastic with white filter fabric on it. Assuming both your seats are cooled, check both for a filter if one doesn’t have it.
There is two filters. One is accessible from under the seat and the other is under the rear seat cover and requires unzipping the seat back. The lower seat fan can become noisy if debris get stuck.
I have heard my fan from the cooling seats. Mine does not have a filter. I quit noticing the hum, perhaps because I have the radio on, no it's not too loud
