i talked to Mike before ordering. when i got my truck the cats were bad. so i put a set of high flow cats on, which in turn set off a CEL for low catalyst efficiency that i could not get rid of.
so he adjusted the tunes to compensate for the high flow cats to get rid of the CEL. i also gained 4 MPG out on the road in economy tune.

I'd like to tune my 2019 6.2 eventually.
I had to plug into my truck and send them the strategy code and they made a tune from that. I have not sent them anything after that as far as tweaks. Im happy with it the way it is.

That's really what I was looking for !! I tow an enclosed trailer in the winter out to the mountains and back for backcountry riding. So a little help in the mountains when towing would be great!!

I wasn't a huge fan. Getting rid of the drive by wire lag was the improvement I liked. The initial purchase was to correct the speed for tires but it wouldn't do it. For the driving I did at the time I liked the truck completely stock, anything else hunted for gears. The thing that made me give up was a shift flare on hot starts when the truck had a tune of any kind. It just wasn't worth the hassle.

When you drive the 6.2 with no or little load they seem kind of doggy but if you put a load to them and give it a few miles to adapt it's a hole different truck. I personally don't like the way it drives right after I disconnect from my 16K trailer and I don't think I would like it with a tunner.

The 5 star site has tuners on sale for 399. Maybe when my power train warrantee expires in September. Although I don’t hear of any tremendous difference with the tuner?

I have the 87 and 91 daily tow and the 91 performance tunes. Mainly run the 91 performance day to day and it makes it a lot more responsive. Some is the better throttle response, but most is the different tranny tuning that really makes a difference.

The performance tune really sucks at towing though. Pulled my loaded car hauler (~7000#) and didn’t bother to change the tune. Felt like I had zero torque and just generally ran like crap. Stopped halfway and reflag to the 91 tow tune and it was like a whole different truck. I keep the tuner in the glove box now and will swap tunes as soon as anything goes on the hitch.

I bought the SCT X4 as a Christmas present to myself this year. The out of the box daily tune was worse than stock. I hated it. I'm currently running 5Star's 87 Daily/ tow tune and love it. The truck responds the way I would expect it to. I'm in 4th gear around town instead of in 6th. The throttle does have a quicker response. The biggest change I can tell you is that it makes the truck feel "effortless". Let's be honest, these aren't sports cars, they're big, heavy trucks. While mine had a good amount of go when mashing the pedal, it still felt like a heavy truck. Now, the truck feels snappier and like it lost 500 pounds. I also have an 87 Performance and 93 performance tune I haven't tried yet.

You don't want to do that again. You will trash your exhaust valves at best.

I'm quite happy with my 6.2L F-250 on 35's, have to try not to spin the tires usually. One big thing I noticed about the Super Duty is how slow the sensation of speed is compared to anything else. It's doing 75 (accurate) when I think I'm still only going 55. That said, I will probably run an SCT tuner when they finally release one for the 17+. Mostly for the throttle lag and better shift points. I am glad to not have the 10 speed though. The F-150 loaner I have right now drives me nuts, even in Sport mode.

I use the N-Guage Tuner with the 5-Star Tunes. I like the Performance Tune the best for fun. I have and tried the Performance 87 Octane, Tow/Daily 87 Octane, Eco 87 Octane, and the Performance Tune using 91 Octane. All have pluses IMO. I mostly use the Eco 87 Octane tune but when I simply feel like having fun, I run the Performance Tunes. Wakes up the 6.2 quite a bit IMO.

Your money, Your Truck. Have fun with it.

Has anyone seen a MPG increase with a 5 star tune?

Is there a noticeable difference between a 5 star tune and a peddle programmer? Like if you were playing at a drag strip.

No increase in mileage, throttle is much better and overall there’s just a little more power.

I'm on a different platform here, being a Raptor and all, but I really like my 5 star 91 octane daily driven tune. It makes the 6.2 more responsive, and even my exhaust sounds meaner.
