So as I sit here watching TV waiting for the football game to come on. I’m in a snarky kinda mood as I’m being bombarded with commercials telling me how tough the F150 is fresh on the heels of the epas replacement, I just had to have the water pump replaced also replaced thermostat while they were in there and belt was messed up from coolant dripping over it. Now the engine fans run on high for no apparent reason, i.e. temps under 70 no AC or heat turned on. It doesn’t do it til it’s run for a lil bit temp gauge shows normal. I’ve searched the web and maybe AC pressure switch, maybe low coolant ( it’s not I checked ), maybe the compressor itself... the heat works great and I’m gonna check again but the AC seemed fine as well hard to really tell as it’s not hot out now I’ll do a temp check on vents, also read someone saying maybe the wrong thermostat was put in, I gonna reach out to the shop that did the work but I’m hoping it’s something simple so I can avoid the hassle of taking it back in and also hoping for some insight as well in case I do have to take it back in as I’ve read quite a bit about mechanics Fords and others not knowing what’s going on, be nice to point my guy in the right direction anyway happy Sunday to you all
5.0 or Ecoboost? I just did the water pump on my Ecoboost and I was able to burp just about all of the air out after the first 10-minute drive. I know on the reverse flow 4-cylinder engines it's a lot harder.
Do you have a monitor? Fans should only hit high speed if ECT exceed 225 or the AC system is running and the pressure goes too high. I didn't have any strange temp spikes on mine.
If they didn't put the thermostat bleed hole in the correct orientation it could take a while to bleed out. Mine didn't have anything that indicated you how to orient it, I just matched the stock one which was basically at the highest point on the stat. One previous vehicles they've had a notch or some kind of indicator for this.
Is there any chance they did a computer re-flash when they did the work? I know after I got my replacement motor, the fans would go full speed at startup when the ambient air temp was high enough. Never did that with the factory programming.
Not the same circumstance, but was just thinking that new code could change when you're hearing the fans at a different time.
