Where would you recommend, and why?

I think this is one of the most difficult things to figure out. I know I'm going to live somewhere in the midwest within a certain radius but more specific than that is hard to nail down.

Seems most people on this site seem to have their heads on decent. I do need to be within ~ 30 minutes of a suburbia-type area where you can find things like a Verizon store and a Target, etc. Requirement of the wife. My requirement is decent internet availability because I work from home. I really want 50 acres or more but if push came to shove for a really cherry spot I can live with 20. I have delusions of hobby farming in the future. I prefer places that lean politically towards "just leave me alone". I used to live in VA near DC and that area is a very save-me-from-myself nanny-state, I hate that crap. We don't really care much about the weather, we lived for a while in Texas and the scorpions really freaked my wife out so it does need to be north enough to where that kind of stuff isn't really an issue. Wolves would probably freak her out too so not so far North as to pick them up though, lol.

So what do you think? Hopefully the above kind of colors the preferences enough to give an idea. Given that, where in the shaded area in the picture below that's still in the USA would you suggest checking out? If you don't mind the time to elaborate on why that would be really appreciated too. Thanks.
