[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Aug-02 AT 06:45 AM (EST)]I see a lot of people asking for help on tech questions. When they have recieved help, they take off like no tomorrow, never to return again. Very few stay, say thanks, or help others while waiting to be helped.
There are a few deciated regulars out of 50,000+ users that have signed up at FTE. Some of the regulars help others constantly, some even won't lift a finger, they are only interested into recieving help, not giving. They get real testy when they aren't reciving help. Many people never even say thanks for the help...
Or they recommend parts sources without bothering to check us out first. Happens on all sites. On the Internet many people have "everything is free" and "you owe me an answer" attitudes.

I always wondered what the attrition rate was for this bbs. I joined up when I as looking into buying a 2003 F-350. Now that I have it I am still participating in the forums. I wonder how many people sign up, ask a few questions (or get their truck), and then are gone forever...?
Personally I find the people and community here more important and fun than the base information.
Hey folks. Just my thoughts. There are a few people that work hard to give this site to us. It is up to you and i to make this the best site. It is only as good as the folks who use it, and we have some fine people on this site. Dont let the few, bring down the many. My hats off to ALL that make this site work so well, including you and i.

Well Said Dave! I am always hanging out on the boards. Occasionally I have a tech question and I try to answer others' tech questions whenever possible (my tech knowledge about vehicles is limited, but growing :-X11 ). I have also seen many come here to ask a question and then leave. It's sad but reflects our society (no commitment to anything). Oh well, THEIR loss.
when i first found this site i didnt know alot about fords or my bronco, i was an older(cj-5,cj-7) jeep guy. i would just hangout in the big bronco forum, ask questions and try to answer some or give my input. Now....im addicted to the general forum....i found my home there! im tryin to teach myself how to monkey with my bronco and havin folks here to help has made it much easier. my enjoyment comes from the sence of community that i think most here feel. every community has folks that just breeze through and dont contribute, cyber-neighborhood or real, you just have to take the good with the bad. help those that you can and hope that they will help others.
just my .02
