I used to be on this forum regularly when I had a 6 oh no diesel. I have since sold that and never looked back. Recently my son purchased his first truck after he broke his back all summer. He bought a 1982 F150 XLT which needed work. We wound up pulling the motor out and bought a long block and have now started to put everything back together. I still have a little bit of time because I have to rebuild the carburetor but I’m looking for part numbers for the alternator bracket, power steering pump bracket and the A/C pump bracket. When he bought the truck there were a lot of Frankenstein parts for everything up front but I’d like to get it back to where it should be. The truck originally came with a 302 but somewhere along the line someone put a 351w in it out of a 1970 cougar. I replaced it with a 351w in the correct year range. Right now I am just looking for parts diagrams to try and figure out what the correct brackets are. If anyone can point me in the right direction for parts diagrams or microfiche. The common parts guy at ford, Napa, autozone etc... aren’t what they used to be. Looking forward to some help.
You are going to have to wait for someone that has pictures and part numbers for everything and only a few can do this.
I think from what I have seen posted it has to be all 351W parts because of the longer stroke of the 351 over the 302 but I could be wrong?
Unless you can find the parts in a junk yard it might be easier to get an after market setup.

Thank you for the reply Dave. I am not sure if it has to be 351w parts but like you I am unsure. I remember there used to be parts diagrams all over the internet but I have no idea why I can’t find any. I wonder if a Ford parts guy could at least furnish part numbers...
Hopefully someone with some info chimes in soon, this is quite frustrating.
There is 1 guy, Bill a retired Ford parts guy, he is good.
He checks other areas to help them out too and I know he has to have some "me time" so not here every day just give it some time.

The brackets from the 1970 cougar do not work? I put a 351w in my 1980 which came with a 302, and it came from a 1978 cougar. I don't remember having trouble with the brackets, between the 302 and the cougar brackets I had all I needed. The only trouble I ran into was the thermostat neck, which was cured by using the hose from the cougar, the throttle cable which was cured by making a bracket and the exhaust manifolds. I went about 5 rounds with the manifolds, the 302 manifolds will bolt up but have the wrong angle on the outlet. And the 351w takes a different y-pipe also. I ended up using headers which I did not like. I think you might be able to buy new 351w manifolds for a truck if you look hard enough.
May not be much help, but does your local public library offer repair manuals and parts guides? You can sometimes use AllData or Mitchell's, etc. through the library for free, depending where you are. Sometimes it's only accessible from a computer AT the library itself, but... It's saved me a bunch of times. Try looking into it.
I do have brackets from the 70’ engine that would work but they seem to be overkill and not tidy if that makes any sense. I have not tried the library yet. Can anyone furnish a picture of what the 82’ should look like with a 351w?

It's very hard to post pics when a Frankenstein monster is involved with parts swapped from gawd only knows what.
For example, you say you want a A/C pump bracket, but there's no such thing as an A/C pump. There's also factory and dealer installed A/C's, which type does the truck have?
Okay so it’s not called a pump but it’s factory installed as far as I can tell. I was hoping to maybe get some pictures since this is the bullnose specific forum but I guess I’ll have to dig up history looking for reference to figure this out.
Ok, From what Im reading here you are looking for the correct brackets, then you also say you would like to "Tidy" up things because the brackets you have dont do that. It wont be that "Tidy" with factory ones. I have a 85 f250 with the 351 HO in it. If you want "tidy", better off going after market The p/s bracket isnt to bad, but still a solid piece The A/C bracket is huge, heres half The other half of the A/C bracket Alt bracket connects to the Smog pumps, After market is just a couple of sleeves that the bolts run thru.
Thank you very much for the pictures!!!!! Funny enough those are the brackets I have and I guess they’ll have to do. I was looking at the one I have for the smog pump and figured that’s what was missing. In my head I guess I wanted it to look much “neater” but it is what it is. I’d rather spend money on more useful items instead of going aftermarket. Again, much appreciated.
I seen some alt brackets on ebay for about 30 bucks and they are just an adjustment bar and some sleeves for the main bolt. If u want to do it on the cheap, just cut the bracket up and save the main sleeve part of the main bolt and just clean them up and a quick paint, as far as A/c goes its huge, and would have to cut and fab something alot smaller like after market. Trying to get mine running today after sitting for 9 years, just got it a month ago, so collecting parts to just hear it run before i throw any money at it.
Understood.... well if you need a running motor I have the one I took out. It runs but it’s missing on 3 cylinders. The walls don’t look terrible but it would definitely need to be bored to get a good crosshatch back.
