Custom Tunes

Who's the guy these days for custom tunes for the 6.0? Can you share your experiences and recommendations?

Thanks,

I've been running Gearhead tunes. No issues. I just got the Innovative Diesel tunes and still trying them. So far the Innovative Diesel Tow tune seems to take more advantage of exhaust braking so I like that one better.
What are you planning on doing with the truck?
Is it studded?
Any other mods like exhaust or turbo?
There's a lot to consider when looking at tunes. Check our their websites for some info.

The kid had the guys at SCT load a custom version of SRL to his tuner. He was kind of the guinea pig on this one, but was told it's "safe" for TTY's
Good grief.....that thing is as quick as some newer d max's I know of around here now. I've never drove a 6.0 as quick as his is now.
I'm sure the Atlas 40 helps.

I'll be shocked if this won't end up lifting the heads, but then there are a lot of them running around on TTY's with milder tunes that don't blow out.

I own Gearhead, Innovative and WPE tunes. I also have the DRM-less tunes that Spartan developed before they decided to make their own tuner.

To be completely honest, I've found that The Gearhead tunes are very conservative, innovative are one step better and WPE is just terrible.
The WPE tunes may have a great TCM program, but the engine tuning is straight garbage. Dirty, terrible lag and so-so mileage on all tunes. The VGT is constantly cycling at idle, power above 50% throttle is nonexistent and none of them play nice with atlas 40 tuning. I got one update and they stopped communicating with me. They're just horrible.

The best ones I've found, honestly, are the Spartan ones that can be found on the web for free. The towing program is great, especially the aggressive tow with jake brake. The competition tune is crazy if you're set up for it (studs, EGT monitor, exhaust). Lots of tire and exhaust smoke. The extreme economy tune can get me 23 MPG with my truck if I keep my foot out of it. They're honestly great. My one wish is that someone could take these tunes and further develop the TCM tuning. It could use some work, but its functional as it is.

I had a WPE tune and it was not good. It produced 38psi of boost and wanted to keep climbing, so I let off. The shifting wasn't that bad but let's just say I loaded it, drove it and removed from my truck.

Gearhead is all I use and I can honestly say I like them and their customer service is great

Thanks for all the input. The Spartan ones can be found online for free? Do you have a link to these? I’ve run strictly Gearhead for the last 5 years but I want to try something new.

Hi I tried to look at the shared Spartan Files, but wasn't able to open them because I don't know what problem to use. Does anyone know what program will open them? I would like to compare them to what I am doing with my tunes. Thanks.

So you trust these tunes and run them currently, or was it a one time trial?

I noticed there are several repeats with the VX number being the difference.....what is the story behind that?

thanks
Joe

You need the tunes that have your current FICM programming code. You can find that on your SCT device.

I've run all of them and they all work great. My only complaint is that the transmission tuning is a bit off on some of the higher HP tunes.
