block heater

Anyone here running a kats heater?
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...-2-in-dia-hose
Any issues trying to install it? I looked and I'm not so sure there is enough room.
Or it will be a tight fit but I might be looking at it wrong though.
Let me know if you did it and a picture if you can.
cross posted over in 73-79 section as well

I never liked that kind. The one to get goes in a freeze plug hole.

any reason why if I may ask?
I wasn't crazy about the freeze plug for 2 reasons,
1) not sure how hard it will be to remove the existing one, I imagine it's never been removed in 40 years.
2) convection heat vs circulation.
I may end up with the freeze plug anyway just due to space issues.

There is just no good place to cut the hose.

My thoughts and the reason why I was asking, appreciate your insight.
How do you feel about the ones that connect to the heater core hoses?
Those look like there would be a lot more room.
The look appealing since they claim you only need to pinch the hoses and won't have to drain much if any fluid.
Which freeze plug did you remove when you did yours?
I haven't crawled under to look at accessibility or wire routing yet.

I didn't run the Kats heater but I did run the heater hose type of engine heater. Both the frost plug type and the heater hose type engine type worked well for me while they worked. However, I found the frost plug engine heaters seem to last much longer than the inline heater hose type. I have only changed two or three frost plug type engine heaters in my life while I had to change the heater hose type after only three seasons. I never went back to them for that reason. Another plus for the frost plug engine heater is that if the cord goes on you (sometimes they fall apart at the plug) one simply needs to change the cord and not the entire heater.
