I also moved up from a CCSB to a CCLB and would never go back. With the larger fuel tank and more cargo space is a no brainer. That and I don't really notice a difference in the turning radius.
Depends what else you've driven. My last truck was a tundra crewmax with a fairly stellar turning radius. My new CC LB had taken some getting used to, but I knew it would. That's the price of admission for the capabilities I needed. If I knew for certain I didn't need those capabilities, and would never regret not leaving myself some capability in reserve, I'd think really hard about a short bed cc.
As stated in this thread though, lots of stuff from the lumber yard is 8ft. Or tool box with leftover bed space... The list goes on. Actually, I could make do with the bed extender, as I did so many times with the silly little bed on the tundra. But I couldn't run the risk of feeling as limited as I was by that truck. I'm already almost regretting not getting a DRW, but that's probably because I'm in the market for a slide-in camper.
If you are getting a long bed to haul some 2x4's, remember, the 6-3/4 allows 8 foot material crosswise and you can still close the tailgate. Now, 4x8 sheets, that's a different story.
Well it might be time for me to upgrade up from my 2000 F250 SC LB to a newer model, so I'm trying to plan ahead. I've been looking around and have questions regarding Crew Cab Long boxes. For those of you that have them, can you tell me the pros and cons? My biggest thing is turning radius. Is it decent better than older SD's. The early SD's did not have the greatest of turning radius. Thanks
Well you do live in the largest, most populated, city in Montana...... Seriously though, if you are used to a long bed I would not even think about giving that up. The 176" wheelbase is a dream on the highway and great in the snow. Others have mentioned the turning radius but personally that never has bothered me, I just park at the far end of a parking lot. In my opinion there are no cons to a long bed, of course, I do not live in a downtown of a large city.

My SCLB has the worst turning radius so I tend to park further out.
A CC short bed truck is 250" long. A CC long bed is 266.2". That is only 4% longer! I know, it looks a lot bigger but it just isn't. I love the functionality and looks of the long bed trucks. I wouldn't even consider a short bed.
The turning radius isn't that hard to get used to, and my CCLB rides so good on the highway, towing or not. Plus, that 48 gallon tank is great. I'll never go back.
As others have said, back into parking spots - it's easier.
As others have said, get the 360 camera - really helps you use every last inch of space in that parking spot made for SMART cars without having to get out and check a dozen times.

I never had an issue w/ my 2004 Crew Cab Long Bed...I jokingly say "I have revers and I'm not afraid to use it..."
my 2004 (leaf spring front end) did not have the turning radius of our 2017 (CC LB)...the 2017 turns a LOT tighter...WITHOUT using reverse!
IMO the long bed is justified just in the size of the Larger (49g) FUEL TANK alone, the longer wheel base of the long beds makes the ride a little nicer too.
I have an auxiliary fuel tank (50g) that only consumes 9 inches of bed space....it gives me DOUBLE the capacity and I STILL have MORE bed/space than a short bed.
I can get a motorcycles and camping gear in the bed, with the fuel tank and STILL close the tailgate.
Same w/ pulling a 5er or GN....plenty of room in a LB to add an auxiliary fuel tank and still pull a 5er or GN Trailer.

What brand of auxiliary fuel tank do you have? What part of the country are you in; I am out west. Was it custom built? I am considering a KSH out of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Their 50-gal tank is 11.5" wide.
