EGT Gauge

I have gauges on the pillar for boost and exhaust temp. Was this something that came from the factory? My exhaust gauge only works when the parking lights or headlights get turned on. Is this how it is supposed to be?

I don't believe that any F-250 / 350 came with any pillar mount gauges, but I have been wrong lots of times. I guess it's called a learning curve!

No, someone installed them sometime during the life of the truck.

No, it sounds like the installed used the parking light wire as a power source instead of a 12v switched/ignition power source.

Not factory, OE the driver side A pillar is either blank or a handle. So those gauges are aftermarket with OP assembly, which evidently ain't exactly right. Can you post up a pic or describe them? Various brands hook up differently. Typically wired in behind the light switch panel, which pops right out btw. Here's a detailed gauge install instructions from Riff Raff, lots of good pics and info.

That is NOT an EGT gauge.

This was wrong, I missed the X10 in the center of the dial.

it works. It has to be egt because it goes up if I get on the throttle or am driving fast and goes down as it should

How high does it get? Is your PCM chipped or tuned?

I'm currently running the pcm stock...it goes up to 700 but at cruising speed will go to 550

You need to find out where the probe is installed. If it is post turbo as you say the previous owner claimed it's nearly useless. It should be installed pre turbo on the exhuast manifold to be accurate of cylinder temps. Post turbo the gases have had time/room to expand and loose temp
